ABOUT THE AUTHOR


Bruce C. Salmon served for 33 years as pastor of Village Baptist Church in Bowie, Maryland. During that time, he preached almost 1500 original Sunday morning sermons, including almost 140 sermons on the Christmas story. For the last 18 years of his ministry, he taught a Sunday morning Pastor’s Class for adult Bible study which read and discussed entire books of the Bible. He also led winter, summer, and Lenten Sunday evening adult Bible studies, which covered such topics as “Introducing the New Testament,” “The Sermon on the Mount,” “The Life of Christ,” “The Life of Paul,” “The Passion of Jesus,” and “The Jesus of the Bible,” as well as books of the Bible, including Hebrews, James, Malachi, John, 2 Corinthians, Acts, Isaiah, Genesis, Exodus, Revelation, Joshua, Mark, Luke, 1 & 2 Samuel, Romans, Ezekiel, and Matthew.



A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Salmon received the Bachelor of Arts with a major in English from Baylor University. He received the Master of Divinity and the Doctor of Ministry degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also received the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University, with a specialization in Clinical Pastoral Counseling.



Salmon has served on several committees of the D.C. Baptist Convention and several commissions of the Baptist World Alliance. In addition to this volume and other volumes in this series, Spelunking Scripture, he is the author of the books, Storytelling in Preaching, and Preaching for the Long Haul: A Case Study on Long-term Pastoral Ministry.
